Hit Nigerian Movie To Debut In UK

A Hit Nigerian film, "Flower Girl," will make its debut in UK cinemas in October. Flower Girl, the second feature film from director Michelle Bello, will enjoy nationwide distribution when it is released in The Odeon, Vue, Cineworld and independent cinemas in a few months' time.

The story follows Kemi (actress Damilola Adegbite), a young impressionable woman who has her sights set on marrying Umar (Chris Attoh), a corporate bigwig who is striving to get ahead in his career. When their relationship hits troubled waters, Kemi seeks the help of movie star Tunde (Chuks Chukwujeku) and together they hatch a plan to get Kemi what she wants, but the plan doesn’t quite work out as they anticipate.

Flower Girl was a big hit in Nigeria, topping the country's movie charts and attracting rave reviews despite having no major Nollywood Stars in a leading role.

The film enjoyed similar success when it was debuted in Ghana and is hoping for the same reception when it arrives in the UK.

Talking Drum Entertainment, which specialises in black film and TV distribution, are behind the film's release on these shores.

They said: "The film which has already been a success in Nigeria and Ghana as gone through a complete re-edit with the help of top African filmmaker Mahmood Ali-Balogun (Tango with Me) and according to Michelle international audiences will be in for an even better film experience with this new version of the film."
