The issue of gender equality has taken centre stage amongst Nigerians in recent time with many supporting equality of the sexes and others saying men and women are not equal.

Popular singer Tiwa Savage surprised many when she said men are women are not equal especially in marriage.

He also said the fact that because a woman is a graduate doesn’t mean she is equals with her husband. He reiterated that women are taught to bow to their husbands in African culture but western ways have corrupted their minds.

The veteran later added that even though men and women aren’t equal, husbands shouldn’t treat their wives as slaves.
