Chimamanda Adichie is making history as she resides in America. The popular author of the coined phrase "We Should All Be Feminists" keeps adding more feathers to her hat for special works and opinions on interesting subject matters.

Chimamanda recently bagged a Mary McCarthy award. A prestigious award only won before now by notable foreign authors such as Margaret Atwood (the author of The Handmaid’s Tale), Zadie Smith, Mona Simpson, and Susan Sontag.

NAIJ.com earlier reported how gorgeous she looked to deliver a lecture at a prestigious American university.

The brilliant author became the first Nigerian to be a recipient of such honour and award which happened at an event held at Bard College, New York. The McCarthy award is named after famous novelist Mary McCarthy who taught at Bard College. It is given in acknowledgement of engagement in the public sphere by an intellectual, artist, or writer.

The award includes a $2,000 cash award, publication of a collection of short stories or novella and a standard royalty contract.

Chimamanda has been a recipient of several awards including one of the latest for her book Americanah which won the One Book One America award.
