A woman has delivered a baby against all odds during the massive storm that has hit Cape Town, South Africa, this week. 32-year-old Noncedo Thinga gave birth to her miracle baby on Wednesday, June 7, in a neighbour's flooded house in Khayelitsha. She had sought refuge there because her own house was in a worse state.

Her neighbour, Ziyanda Ngcingi, and other residents called an ambulance after finding her. They cut off the baby's umbilical cord while they waited.

Although both Noncedo and her baby are fine, her neighbours say it was a miracle she gave birth in such difficult conditions.

According to reports, Cape Town is experiencing its worst storm in 30 years. It started on Tuesday, June 6, and has caused the loss of eight lives as well as widespread destruction of property.

Thousands of people have also been displaced after their structures succumbed to strong winds. In addition, the city faced electricity cuts, although power has been restored to up to 90 percent of areas affected.

The Western Cape Disaster Management Centre is reportedly conducting a rescue operation to get as many people as possible to safety. See some pictures of the devastation below.
