The 9th edition of the Yaw Live on Stage series tagged Apere was held last Sunday, May 28, at Eko Hotels Convention Centre.

As expected, the venue was filled to capacity as actors, comedians and top dignitaries trooped out to see Yaw and Sound Sultan in action in a concert/comedy show.

Actors like Iyabo Ojo, Dayo Amusa, Kemi Afolabi, Gbenro Ajibade, Papa Ajasco, Saheed Balogun, Kate Henshaw, Adeniyi Johnson and many more were spotted on the red carpet at the beginning of the show.

Top comedian Alibaba and his wife

Former Chief Security Officer to late military head of state late Sani Abacha, Major Hamza al-Mustapha (rtd) surprised many with when he showed up at the comedy show. Seasoned economist Prof Pat Utomi, former first lady of Lagos state Dame Abimbola Fashola were also present to support Yaw. While comedians like Ali Baba and wife, Funnybone, EmmaohmyGod, Kenny Blaq, Woli Arole, Mc Tagwaye, Ambassador Wahala, Asiri and others were also spotted.

The highlight of the evening was a professionally acted hilarious stage play featuring Yaw and Sound Sultan. The play touched various aspects of the sad state of the Nigerian economy and several topics that have trended on social media over the months.

Timi Dakolo, Busola Dakolo and Adebola Williams

NAIJ.com exclusively gathered that the duo through their commendable acting skills in the comic stage play were able to address some of today’s social vices which include the disconcerting MMM Ponzi scheme, failed youth empowerment system, celebrities social media antics, economic recession, among others.

The stage play addressed issues of national concern in a satirical manner, including Buhari’s infamous disapproval of late president Yar’Adua back in 2010, Chibok girls, EFCC’s recent cases, the Nigerian military, and several more.
