- The man who was identified as the video director of Hg2films allegedly poisoned his pregnant girlfriend and terminated her pregnancy
Olaolu Akorede, a 28-year-old video director associated with Hg2films, has been picked up by security operatives for allegedly poisoning his girlfriend and terminating her pregnancy in the process.
NAIJ.com gathered that the video director had given Halimat, his pregnant girlfriend, some harmful herbal liquid to drink. Akorede had told the unsuspecting lady that the mixture was a treatment for diabetics.
Taking the harmful herbal mixture however terminated Halimat’s pregnancy and damaged her fallopian tube as well. She filed a petition through her counsel and got Akorede arrested.
Read what the petition entails below:
“I met the suspect in New York, U.S, in November, 2016 while both of us were on vacation and began a relationship.
When I came back to Nigeria, I noticed that I was pregnant and I told him about the development and he was very happy on the phone. And he begged me to keep the pregnancy till he comes back to Nigeria for us to wed.
He requested for a return ticket to come back to Nigeria and I spent N400k to purchase a return ticket for him. When he came back to Nigeria, he also collected the sum of N2.5m from me to prepare for our wedding.
But instead, he went to Abeokuta, Ogun State, to meet a native doctor who prepared a herbal liquid for him which he claimed was for treatment of diabetics. He convinced me to drink it and because I did not suspect anything, I drank from it.
Unknown to me, it was to abort my pregnancy or to kill me. After drinking it, I began stooling blood and ended up in the hospital. Doctors later performed surgery on me and discovered that the herbal liquid had affected my unborn baby and damaged my Fallopian tube.”
Akorede was arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrate Court on a four count charge which includes procuring unknown herbal mixture to terminate pregnancy, administering poison which killed the unborn baby and obtaining N2.5m under false pretense. Although he denied almost all the assertions, he confessed to giving her some herbal mixture as a cure for diabetics.
He was granted bail in the sum of N200,000 by the magistrate, Mrs O.O. Otitoju. The video director was also asked to provide two sureties in like sum. The order was given for him to remain in Kirikiri prison until the bail conditions are met.
