The event held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center was another historical moment all including Kara who represented the District of Columbia.
McCullough, who was born in Naples, Italy, and raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia is a nerd by societal's definition. However, she is passionate about science and wants to inspire young girls to desire careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
A nerd is an unstylish, unattractive, or socially inept person; especially: one slavishly devoted to intellectual or academic pursuits.
Kara basked in the ecstatic moment of being crowned Miss USA 2017, making it a back-to back win for District of Columbia.
Miss New Jersey Chhavi Verg, a student at Rutgers University studying marketing and Spanish emerged first runner-up and the second runner-up, Miss Minnesota Meridith Gould, is a student of apparel retail merchandising at the University of Minnesota.
