Nigerian society circle stood still for late Ooni of Ife Oba Okunade Sijuwade’s and late Abdul-Wahab Iyanda Folawiyo’s families as their children were joined in matrimony on Saturday, March 4, 2017.
The traditional wedding ceremony involved Prince Aderemi Adejare Sijuwade and Olabisi Ashake Folawiyo.
The groom Prince Aderemi is the son of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Okunade Adele Sijuwade, Olubuse 11, the 50th Ooni of Ife and Olori Oladunni Olamide Sijuwade (nee Harold-Sodipo). A very enterprising businessman, Prince Aderemi shared a remarkable closeness with his father. This informs why he is fondly called Baba’s Boy, by his friends.
The bride Olabisi on her part is the daughter of Chief Abdulwahab Iyanda Folawiyo, the late billionaire and former Baba Adinni of Nigeria and Mrs Olushola Alaba Folawiyo, a businesswoman. Labisi is the brain behind FACES By Labisi, the upscale make-up studio in Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi.
The traditional and engagement ceremony was held at the Federal Palace Hotel, Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island.
The colour code for the day is royal blue for the groom’s family. The wedding dinner is scheduled to hold later this month.
The wedding had the current Ooni of Ife and more dignitaries in attendance. The couple got engaged July 2016.
Meanwhile, Prince Aderemi wowed his bride few hours to the commencement of their traditional wedding with a car gift. He surprised Labisi Folawiyo with a luxury Mercedes Benz car as an early morning gift on their wedding day.
Prince Aderemi will be the second son of the late monarch to get married after his demise. Prince Adegbite married TV personality and host, Marcy Dolapo Oni on October 10, 2015, while Ooni Sijuwade passed on July 28, 2015.
