Roda Newberry and Damien Leask recently had a medieval wedding fit for a fairy tale. This was due to the $25,000 (N12.2M) they were gifted to fund the wedding.
Damien, who has cystic fibrosis and is now terminally ill due to complications from his his lung transplant which his body is rejecting. So it was a dream come true for them to carry out and enjoy their dream wedding so soon.
Roda told Daily Mail: "Damien underwent radiation therapy and health issues started to come on 'real suddenly'."
Roda and Damien first met in High School but was over 10 years after before they reconnected. She continued: "We got talking, three days later he came down to the Gold Coast, one week later he was my boyfriend. Three months later he was like "Do you want to get married?'"
Damien proposed while they were on a cruise and she said yes. She didn't expect to get married so soon but his illness makes them use the time they have wisely.
Their wedding was held on Thursday, February 9, and 80 family, friends and guests were there to celebrate with them
Roda and Damien walked down the aisle together to the tune of Can't Help Falling In Love, with the bride wearing a ball gown and veil fit for a princess.

The whole wedding party took the theme to heart and dressed like the couple. Roda said: "I never felt so calm and grounded, there was just a spark. Its taken all this time, but it was worth it."
"There will still be lots of adventures. It might be a little slower, but we still get to see and do things together."
