Even though iconic musician Fela Anikulapo Kuti died 20 years ago, his ghost came back to ‘haunt’ rising musician Skales.
After Skales released the video for his hit track Temper which features Burnaboy, the video was taken down by YouTube because the song contained uncleared interpolations of Fela’s hit tracks Sorrow, Tears and Blood and Roforofo Fight.

An interpolation happens when one singer takes the lines of another singer and changes it for his or her own use without changing the melody of the song. By uncleared, I mean that Skales did not obtain the required permission to include Fela’s music in the Krizbeatz produced song.
Reacting to the matter, Rikki Stein, Fela’s former manager said: “Well, the usual procedure when using a sample or using the composition of a third party is to seek permission from the Rights Holder. I don't believe that happened in this case. I don't know Skales personally but would strongly advise him to make the necessary overtures!”
But it appears all has been settled as the video has been uploaded back to YouTube. Watch it below:
